ABOUT THE ARTIST

To meet watercolorist Sasha St. John is to enter a gentle, magical world populated by faeries, mermaids, goddesses, angels, flying pigs, and other creatures and beings, both natural and mystical.   It is a world where all spiritual traditions and belief systems are honored, every living thing is sacred, and we discover a heartfelt expression of love, hope, and compassion.

She and her beloved husband, Sabastian, live in a log home out in the country with six chickens and Mahjee the cat. Sasha is a sensitive and visionary artist, one who seeks to translate her highest ideals and inner explorations of spirituality into visual works that may inspire and heal those around her.   "Pictures and images are powerful ways to communicate with our inner wisdom.   My hope is to inspire and encourage people to reawaken their intuition, to heal themselves and the planet, to respect the environment, and connect with the Divine," she says.

Sasha first learned to paint as a young child from her grandfather, who instilled in her an appreciation of the rare gift it is to be talented as an artist, and the importance of carefully observing the natural world through an artist?s eyes.   She continued to paint on her own and attended university both in the United States and in Europe, developing her technique, and eventually realizing that watercolor was her favored medium.

"It seems appropriate that I use watercolor to paint these images, which appear to be fragile yet are actually quite potent," she says.   "I stain the paper with pigment and color until the images emerge."

Sasha paints from a deep love and reverence for all beings, both seen and unseen. Sasha's description of how she paints resembles what writers sometimes say about the mysteries of creative inspiration.   "Creating art is a profound spiritual experience for me.   My painting process is a co-creation with the Divine: I show up and get to hold the paintbrush.   Sometimes I know where we are going and other times I am led in directions where I feel more like an observer," she says.

Sasha St John is an internationally published and distributed artist and author whose passion is to inspire and empower her audience. Her beloved, award winning watercolors depicting faeries, mermaids, Goddesses, and angels are imbued with a feminine strength and spirituality. Currently, over 100 images are in publication and her inspirational oracle deck, Gentle Wisdom of the Faerie Realms, has been published in four languages.

Artist's Statement

I find myself on the mystic path. I have always had a gift with the brush but it is the spiritual aspect of my work that keeps me going. I am a communicator and story teller by nature but the only stories I am interested in telling are stories that inspire and heal. My job is to perceive the divine and to relay that to others. I feel like a child who is allowed to peek into a room and then am asked to share what I see.

We are truly blessed to   be a part of the vast and beautiful diversity of our Mother Earth. May we grow as people to love each other and the incredible diversity of this planet. May we know we are truly and unconditionally loved by many, both seen and unseen.
